I didn’t set out to start a skincare brand. I set out to fix my own skin.
Time left my skin dry, sensitive, dull, pigmented and stressed. Prescriptive treatments offered results but at a cost. My skin barrier grew fragile and depleted. Luxury creams felt comforting but never truly repaired. Everywhere I looked, the ads, the sponsored posts, the endless recommendations, none of it helped my skin feel nourished or resilient again.
Thats when I realised, real skincare isn’t found in trends or marketing. It’s found in formulas that actually support how skin works simply, gently and effectively.
Frustration to Formulation
Despite trying everything from cult favourites to dermatologist-approved brands, I couldn’t find one moisturiser that offered lasting relief. Some just sat on top of my skin; others disappeared too quickly, leaving it tight and flaky.
So, I decided to take matters into my own hands, combining my background in Chemistry and Polymer Engineering degrees to understand why moisturisers were failing so many of us.
Where Curiosity Met Chemistry
When I began analysing mainstream formulas, I noticed most contained a high proportion of water, often 60% or more. While this feels refreshing at first, it evaporates quickly, increasing transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and leaving the skin exposed.
I also realised that many moisturisers are designed to feel good rather than truly work. Silicones, fillers, and texture enhancers are often added to make products glide beautifully or feel instantly smooth, they do little to nourish or repair the skin. These ingredients create a pleasant, sensorial experience, yet often dilute the concentration of actives that actually make a difference.
So, I set out to create something different: a formula without added water, where every ingredient serves a function, each one chosen to protect, repair and truly nourish. No fillers, no fragrance, no shortcuts.
Redefining What Moisture Means
For me, a moisturiser should:
Reinforce the skin barrier and prevent moisture loss
Deliver bioactive ingredients at levels high enough to genuinely benefit the skin
Be gentle enough for sensitive or menopausal skin
Contain no added water, fragrance, or unnecessary fillers
After months of formulating and testing, Pure Nourish Balm was born, a concentrated blend that strengthens the skin barrier, delivers lasting hydration, and restores a healthy, natural glow.
Friends and family tried it and saw real results. What started as a personal solution grew into something worth sharing.
From Personal Need to Real Results
What began as a solution quickly grew into something bigger. I shared the early Pure Nourishment Balm with a small group, just to understand if others felt the difference I did. The feedback was immediate, people contacted me asking to purchase it. Many shared that it soothed dryness, strengthened their skin barrier and brought calm to stressed, reactive skin. Others described relief in areas affected by psoriasis, dermatitis, blepharitis and rosacea.*
Encouraged by their results and the steady stream of requests, Si-ME Skincare was born, rooted in real experiences, real skin and real results.
